Photographer's Note
In the past decade Vang Vieng has been turned from a sleepy mountain town into a sport destination, however there still are corners where the town has maintained its typical Laotian character like the evening wet market at the southern end of Vang Vieng seen in this shot. At sunset time the locals go shopping in their very traditional wet market while the yellow sun slowly descends to the horizon.

Hello Urs,
Another valuable shot depicting everyday life in Vang Vieng. The silhouette of the mountain in the b/g puts this scene in perspective.
Regards,
MT
BTW, what is a wet market?

Hi Urs, Nice to see a bit of daily life from a country unknown to me. I like the composition in the photo and especially the play of lines that you included with the tree and telephone poles and the bit of mountain sticking out in the back!
Keep well. Lavonne

Hello Urs,
I find your notes very descriptive and informative, nicely complementing the compositions. A good capture of this animated scene which takes on a mystical nature by virtue of the soft light and glorious sunset tones. The two parasols book-ending the composition make a good pair of frames and help give the image depth.

Hello Urs,there are a lot of contradictions in this very well presented shot,it would appear to be a fairly modern environment with the colourful umbrellas and satellite dish yet the road is not the best with many tangled overhead wires, how interesting.
Nice photography.

Hello Urs,
This is a very ordinary street, but it has that unique ordinariness that I love so much when travelling. I can imagine the sounds and the smells of fruits, dust and maybe incense. The colours are great and I even like the wires going diagonally along the road. There's a fine connection between the red umbrella to the left and a similar one further back to the right. The hazy hill in the bakground looks gorgeous.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Urs
It's good shot in a rather special moment with that extra interest as a slice of bustling street life,. You have captured timely with excellent inter play of reality where the eye is directed straight to the pickish tones up there. A fine compo and I love the array of lively colours there. Well done
Best regards

Hi Urs
I've always enjoyed these real-life daily scenes from far away countries - we just don't get to see much of Loas here in Canada!
at first glance, I see that sandels are the preferred footwear! I probably sound like a tourist, but i'd be wearing sneakers :)
One thing I still remember from being here and in Thailand are the huge number of wires, same here, but not too bad.
fun to see all the tuk tuks, and interesting to see the cultural side of real life here.
awesome
cheers

Hi Urs!
Great light and atmosphere! A real Asian scene (I'll try to go there next year:)!
Your pov is really good to show the little street, the people around and the silhouette of the mountain in background.
