It must be really hard to ride with such a weight on the bike!
Nice, interesting subject. Good composition too.
You could try cropping the image on the right, to remove the the pole. Making it a little bit tighter around the cyclist, but keeping the road and buildings in it.

Hi Alan.
I love those old styles shopping bicycles with no gears! We used to own a couple of them when we lived over there a long time back. They're fine around the cities as it's so flat.
I like this view of everyday life in Japan. Nicely caught, although I agree with Richard about the cropping, and I would personally warm this up slightly with a little more saturation.
