Photographer's Note
I dedicate this upload to Malgo because she asked, in a comment to my last post if I had visited any places in Japan other than Tokyo. Also, because Malgo has a lot of really good photos from Japan on this site.
So yes, I have seen some other destinations in Honshu, among all Jigokudani and Hakone.
Anyway, this is just another nothing special, taken on my second day in Japan in an open air museum in the village of Oshino. What I learned on that day was that, in Japan, wherever there is a pond, there are koi fish and wherever there are koi fish there are Japanese tourists feeding them. It's one of the national pastimes, like watching sumo and soaking in hot water in an onsen. You don't even need to bring your own bread as proper fish food is provided for a few yen in all tourist attractions with koi ponds.
Image scanned from Fuji Velvia slide film.

Hi Kasia, the quality of the pic is truly excellent,it seems a digital one,it needs to read the note to undersand that this is a scanned film. The scene is nice too with the tourists feeding the red fish in the water that i can see very well despite the distance.Good memory from your archive and nice dedication for Malgo. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Kasia,
Now you are only 15 years behind yourself. You have a lot of catching up to do (and I don't mean catching up fish.) ;-) It's a nice scenery, a quite pretty little building, and even without the note we could see that there is really something going on here. Some of those persons are urgently watching the fish.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Kasia,
A great photo of this charming building and its thatched roof at the edge of the pond. The people feeding the fish are well captured and also the fish themselves are clearly seen in the water. The light was very pleasant.

Witaj kasiu,
To koło młyńskie to chyba ozdoba. Ludzie bardzo zabasorbowani obserwacją rybek. Piekne sa te japońskie ogrody.
Jeszcze raz dziękuję MAlgo

Czesc Kasia.
Pozdrawiam.

Hello Kasia,
A fascinating note and a lovely photograph to accompany it!
I suspect that you found other more interesting things to see and to do during your visit to Japan than feed fish though I can understand that this must be a very relaxing pastime. Quite good too for the owners of the fish as they can charge visitors for the food for which to feed them!
Considering that this image was from a scanned transparency its quality is amazingly good - did you get this scanned professionally or scan it yourself? The colours and details are excellent and the contrast is well controlled too - so many scanned slides suffer from excessive contrast with "blown out" highlights and jet black shadows.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Sympatyczna scenka, zawsze gdy widze archiwalne zdjecie, to zastanawiam sie, jak to wyglada dzisiaj i czy jeszcze uprawiaja ten swoj narodowy sport, czyli karmienie karpi :)
pozdrawiam Ryszard

Hi Kasia
A very calming setting in which one quite easily spend a few hours. The kois are happy to be fed, hope that guy doesn't lose his balance though, a nicely captured moment and good scanned image. Well done, Congrats

Hello Dear Kasia,
How good to see you posting again.
This is an enchanting place with the thatched shelter grabbing immediate attention, leading to the interesting details of the Japanese family feeding the koi carp. The whole scene is is one of tranquility and quiet enjoyment.
I found myself looking with further interest at the peripheral details of the water wheel, the small waterfall and the crowded shrubs, maybe not immediately obvious, but all contributing to the lovely ambiance.
Have a lovely Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hi dear Kasia
You seem to visit so many places, not only so famous trendy points but also places that I never know! I do not know Oshino village, hahaha. Yes we, Japanese, like to feed Carps, specilally colorful carps. That means the symbol of rich.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hello Kasia,
The thatched roof reminds me of traditional Romanian buildings. Good color and sharpness. The waterwheel adds an interesting focal point and the fish feeding piques the viewers interest. Tfs!

Hi Kasia
I wonder how long these Koi fish live for, meaning are the same fish there today when you took this photo 15 years ago? haha
Sounds like Koi fish is what we should all come back as when we are reincarnated :) They are cared for greatly. I'll have to check out Malgo's photos as well, I don't remember her posting japan shots. fun interactive shot, keep them coming. cheers

Hello Kasia,
The gardens are another attraction that Japan can be proud of, including the ponds and the rocks to be found on the exact right place.
Sometimes you can also see herons in the gardens.
Beautiful capture of the traditional construction and the children feeding the fish.
Best regards, Paul
