Photographer's Note

Not to lose the sense of enchantment and wonder as one grows older is a gift. My sojourn in Japan during autumn, allowed me to see how the ordinary Japanese citizen can react to nature's beauty as if he or she was seeing the world for the first time. I believe that this closeness with nature is due in no small part to Shintoism which stresses the interconnectedness of all living things, unlike the Judeo-Christian attitude in which humans were given carte blanche to dominate and use nature as they wished.

I am quite amazed that I was successful with this shot since I took it at 1/15sec and almost without a moment to think, as I spotted these two ladies and didn't want them to notice me while they were engrossed in their surroundings.
