Photographer's Note
Another shot taken from 24,000 feet from the left side cockpit window. (The optical quality is much higher than when taken through a cabin window even though the panels are heated with small wire fillements and the laminates are very thick).
We have had some beautiful Autumn weather lately and I have been lucky with Air Traffic Control clearances that have put the aircraft in a perfect position for a view of the crater. I think the passengers enjoyed this sight as much as I did!
I am sorry if I have sent too many shots of Fuji but I love this mountain and I am incredibly lucky to go past it sometimes three times in one day while flying between Tokyo and Miyazaki or Kumomoto in Kyushu.

Very nice perspective. It needs more detail, but I like very much. I never saw before the crater.

Very nice shot of the crater with a good angle. It is indeed a beautiful mountain. As for me I haven´t seen enough pictures of Fuji yet, and I´ve really enjoyed those you have posted. So keep them coming...

I find this picture to be very interesting and instructive. I had never seen Mt Fuji in this bird-eye view before. I like the composition.
Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful perspective. It was good that you caught it in the morning(?) light so the shadows were there to add depth to the shot. Seems like the weather station should be visible but I can't make it out. Probably camouflaged in the snow.

Fantastic picture.
Are pilot to be able to fly like this on the top of this mythic mountain ?
The picture would be more pleasant if we can see all the part that have snow. It will look like a round withe point .

Hi Peter, This is a first - to see the crater like this. Good idea well presented. Good clarity and colour. Interesting story how you achieved it. Well done, hope to see many more from your specially privelidged POV. Murray.

Hello Peter
Very unusaul yet very intriging photo and view.
I envy you for being a pilot and bing this much in contact with Japan.
What airline do you work for?
Your photo has great quality, despite being taken through the cockpit windshield.
I work in the industry myself, and I know of the heating systems in the cockpit windshields. Having your camera this close to the window and at the same time getting focus on a target this far away, really shoulden't be getting any disturbance from the heating elements.
Very nice detail to Fuji-san, some slight noise or simply particles in the air but that is about what there is to complain about.
Thank you for sharing.

great shot. I wish I was a pilot. As long as your pictures of Fuji get better and better I don't mind if you take them ;-)

Bravo, Peter! I did not even know that Fuji had a crater! I am sure your passengers enjoyed the view, they had to! (As much as I did!) :) I am so glad you posted this, it is very interesting. Thank you!

Hi Peter,
Your photos are truely spirited for TE. This one is awesome and probably I have not seen this crater of Fuji anywhere except in some magazines. This is truely a journalistic post. Very lucky to be in the job.
regards
