Photographer's Note
A photograph that I took during a procession of cremation of King IX of Peliatan palace, Ubud.
This is a very rare moment coz maybe this is the last king of Peliatan and maybe I will never see again a big creamation like this one.
And of course, as this is very rare, many people come to see the events, and it is not easy to find an angle to take photo.. I had to walk down along the street to find angle.. I finally chose an angle and used a bamboo ladder to shot in high angle and placed it at the corner intersection..
Why I chose this angle? because from this angle, I could put the arjuna statue which was carrying arrows as the background.. It is like Arjuna is archery the bull..
In the photo, you could see when the bull statue was carried by the residents of the village, to take to the cemetery.
-------
The cremation or Ngaben ceremony of King IX Peliatan palace, Ubud, Bali itself was very interesting. The "bade", a place where corpses are placed (a kind of high tower), made with a height of 25 meters, was carried by thousands of citizens from the castle to the location of combustion.
Cokorda Gde Putra Nindia is king IX Peliatan Puri, Ubud. His body was cremated at the cemetery in the village of Ubud, on Tuesday (02/11/2010).
Ngaben Ceremony begins by carrying the bull statue, which is used as a place of burning corpses. In addition, residents take turns to willingly, to show their respect to the king, carry the Dragon statue and the Bade, where lay the corpse.
The Bade as high as 25 meters and weigh 10 tons, the bull statue and the dragon statue paraded by around 6,500 people from 13 villages.
Carried Bade, dragon statue, and the bull statue is one part of this cremation ceremony most awaited by the tourists. Thousands of residents and domestic and foreign tourists crowded the streets of Ubud to witness the procession.
Arriving at the location of combustion, the body is derived from Bade. The body then inserted into the body of the bull statue. After praying, led by Hindu priest's body was later burned by the family concerned.

I understand the challenge of taking such photo and you managed to put everything right! The entire crowd angle lead our eyes to the bull. I wish I was there to see this. Amazing!

Hi Yoga.
Tremendous shot, full of dynamism and a sense of movement. I think your viewpoint is marvellous, and the shot really captures both the crowd and the two towering subjects very well. The atmosphere is one of urgency. This photo appears to be one of truly historic significance. Congratulations for your achievement here, one of the best 'documentary' shots I've seen on TE for a long time.
Regards,
Andrew

Bonsoir Yoga
This place reminds me a lot of memories...
You did find the perfect spot to shot the picture two meters above the crowd.
Bravo
Chris
