Photographer's Note
There's nothing special about this mundane subject matter. Just a blast from the past and rest assure that they are gone from the street scape by now - once much sought after landmark for the locals. Remember when you looked high and low for one? then when one was found, more often then not, they were out of order, or someone had beat you to it. Well those days are over and whom do we have to thank for the 'death of the phone booth?
Spotted this in Malioboro town centre, Yogyakarta - the capital of Central Java. I was very much attracted to the combination of lines, shapes and colours.
Setting: 50 mm, 1/100 sec, F9, ISO raw 200, 1400 hrs

Interesting to see this array of psychedelic payphones, no doubt disappeared by now as you say replaced by the smartphone, one of the curses of mankind in my opinion:-) Well realised with excellent vivid colours and very good clarity.

Landlines are still good when you want to chat for an hour or 2 to family and friends and don't want to be paying a dollar a minute. Well seen and the colors and repetition of the 3 phones works well here. In Australia we have the added problem of willful and mindless vandalism. Tfs!

The colours and patterns are amazing, well-spotted! Definitely worth a photo.
It always worries me that, while mobile phones are more convenient, what happens if I find myself without one working one somewhere where the public phones have disappeared from... It's a bit like trains are being taken off schedule in many places because most people have cars. But what do you do if you haven't got one?

What a nice blast from the past! I do not believe I have seen such colorful phone booths. IMHO, the photo would look better if cropped from the bottom of the colorful board; I tried by scrolling & moving the window down.
