Photographer's Note

I was retuning after some photography on a Sunday morning when I saw this group of Hindu priests of the Vaishnav sect. The Vaishnav's (or Iyengars as they are known in South India), are the devotees of the God Vishnu, one of the triumvirate of major Hindu Gods. The members of this sect are easily identifiable by the vertical caste marks they wear on their forehead, unlike the others who have horizontal caste marks. Unusually, this was a young and animated lot. They had just finished a puja (prayer session) in someone's house and were waiting, probably for food to be served.
