Photographer's Note
The houses in Ramapir Tekra-no slum are packed in extremely close to each other. You can see the divide between the two houses here. Each home is approximately 6ft squared-thats it. One man has made his mission to provide ever single home with a toilet and washing facilities. These toilets will be directly outside each home.
So, directly behind me, is another home. 16 people live in these three houses. They are related. Arguments break out often, over nothing. You can see my knee on this picture, as I am sitting down on a chair, leaning back trying to fit in as much as I can.

Fantastic shot.
The colours and textures are amazing, especially the ones produced on the wall.
Tfs.

Hi Kajal, this is a beautiful composition, well-balanced, with rich soft colours. I love the glow of the flames and the blues and greens here, and the detail of people going about their daily life & tasks, despite the hardship. Excellent work!

I am drawn to the colors in this outstanding image, Kajal: towit the blue bubble emenating from the boy's mouth, the mother's green sar and the mysteriously blurred purple in the dark passage beyond.
Wondrous color photography...

Another with great colors Kaj. I also like the two part composition here, it reminds me of some of Evren's work actually. Maybe I wouldn't mind if it was shifted just a little to the left; it feels tight to me on the left while there is a touch of extra room on the right. Very nice again.

hello Kajal,
I love the colours ! Beautiful silent moment you catched here. The boy in his own world, the mother in her daily life ... a scene from a movie.

The light from the duni sets the scene, its all about colours and textures here Kaj and people just going about their business.

I absolutely love this Kaj. It's like a flash forward from Ray's "Pather Panchali". Mother cooking in the kitchen, young boy playing with his object of interest du jour and daughter taking care of household chores. Yes, because of the last character I do not agree with Darren. She is very crucial in this shot decribing a typical indian household as well as offering a commentary on the gender-roles in traditional indian society.

Hello Kajal. It will probably become me the habit that I evaluate more than so far your pictures. They are like that protruding that one cannot survey them simple. Perhaps it does not make a sense to describe, why the photos are impressing like that. For me they are always very authentically and at the same time in the aesthetic sense beautiful. This applies also in your current photo. VERY MUCH BEAUTIFUL. Best regards, Wolfgang.

hello Kajal,
You have done well to get this image at such close quarters. This is about colours and textures as well as space.it is so rich in colour and that blue balloon...a great capture of the moment. It makes an interesting contrast to that famous soap advert with bubbles.

Great composition Kajal. The two halves of the scene are a picture on its own. The blue baloon is a great detail and so is green dress of the woman against that pale golden wall. It's incredible how you have captured that woman position so many times in your photos. Great light once again, great scene.
PS. If you ever think of printing this project on a book - and you really should - I want to buy some copies for me. Just send me a note...
