Photographer's Note
This was taken during my last few weeks in Ahmedabad.
Here name is Babiben. She said "Jate mehnat zindabad!" Which basically translates to "Long live working hard for your money!" I know, the meaning is spoiled in the translation, but I was incredibly moved with this statement, as this was the whole reason I had chosen to concentrate my energies towards them. They work harder than most people I know.

Another intimate contribution to the portrait of the people and lives you came to know Kaj - telling it as it is not as a voyeur but someone who has shared anothers life - the colours are wonderful to feed my obsession.
best wishes KEV

hi kajal,
i'm constantly and pleasantly amazed by the quality and meaning of your work - it's like you make the photographs not with a camera but only with your own eyes and soul (can't explain that better in english - wish i could) without even using a camera - like you are the camera yourself and you are completely participating in each photograph with all that you are ... hope this makes sense :)
thanks and take care,
dora
