Photographer's Note
I found these children enjoying themselves in the village of Lava in West Bengal, India, a small hamlet situated 30 km east of the town of Kalimpong at an altitude of 7200 feet. Lava is one of the few places in West Bengal that receives snow in winter.

the boy up against the wall is wrapped up in some sort of string or yarn? and is this someone's home? if it is, its in pretty rough shape, but that's real. Its a great scene showing how children can be, and are so innocent, finding a way to have fun no matter if they're rich or poor. awesome. cheers

Hello Satya, Your photo was taken in 2012 but it looks like Gert's oldies. Children are good subject everywhere. Wonderful composition. The kids live without expensive toys and seem happy.

Hello Satya,
I fully agree with your title. Taking photos of children around the world has given me many happy moments, and hopefully been fun for the children too. In the "western" world it has become a more difficult hobby, so I am more reluctant to take this kind of photos here. In this photo you captured beautifully the joy expressed by the children having fun despite their poor living conditions. They also provide lovely colours and happen to be well placed inside the frame.

I cannot think of a more charming scene, or one which depicts the ability of children to be creative with play!
Expensive toys are not necessary, children love materials that can be versatile.
I know how much fun my children had with the paper and packaging of their presents, rather than the presents themselves!
You have incorporated everything that we need to see, to understand what is happening, with some exquisite details!
(How hardy children can be ... no shoes or sandals!)

A very nice daily life photo of those children playing in front of the old wooden building, whose dark colours are a very nice background for the bright colours of the children's clothes and the ropes the one in the foreground was playing with. Good clarity and composition.
