Photographer's Note

The picture shows a view of the Flower Market (Krishna Rajendra or K R Market) of Bengaluru (erstwhile Bangalore), in the state of Karnataka in India.

It is considered to be one of the biggest flower markets in Asia. (Wikipedia)

K R Market was established in 1928. The location of the market is said to have been a battlefield in the 18th century during the Anglo-Mysore Wars.

It is said that the market also sells Vegetables and other commodities including machine tool accessories, however, the only purpose of my visit was to see and photograph the flower market. I remember that I had to be there very early on a chilly, rain drenched morning as the market (flower market) winds up by 8 am.

The surroundings were muddy and rather unclean, however, immediately upon entering the location, one is greeted by the riot of colours and the fragrance of fresh flowers. The market is quite popular with local photographers.

In the WORKSHOP section I have added another view of the same location of the market.
