on the way to haridwar from doiwala in a local bus.
this has been scanned from a contact sheet, so the quality is not good.

A scanned one yet so good. This small boy looks so different here.Over exposed out side has given a good contrast in this B/w Composition.

a nice portrait, if I can say so.. nice surroundings, this kid seems attracted to your camera.. This way, portraits are nice..
The definition is nice enough on my screen even though it's scanned from a Contact sheet..

your train and bus shots are breathtaking for me Sohrab! I hope you won't mind but i have kept your train shot in my favorites and as a screensaver on my computer at work... the B&w touch has something very tender and brings out a lot of emotions in me... it was great to have this kid looking back at you;;-)
love those shots.. keep them coming my friend!

Bonjour Sohrab - "Not so good" ? - I absolutely don't know what could be written about an artistic or technical improving here. This is the kind of picture everybody would like to make, even once...
He - that little boy with the tremendous look in his eyes - couldn't get a better place in the composition than right in the middle of it. And all the lines are converging to him. I even don't miss more sharpness because I like the soft contrast, making the B&W less tough, giving a certain mood, so this scanned version is just wonderful in my eyes... It oughts to be in my Favourite B&W theme, thank you for the pleasure!

Considering it's from a contact sheet the output is very very good-- the tonal renditioning is actually more balanced than some digital-native conversions that seem to quickly lose out highlight and shadow detail. You've done an impressive result technically. Your converging bus windows compliment the centered placement of the child so well.

Hi Sohrab,
I love this shot. Frame, contrast, light and that incredible sight of this little boy, looking at you.. like if he's the only one that could see you.
Beautiful!

Hi Sohrab,
I think the quality is very good for a contact sheet.
Nicely composed picture with a lot of people looking forward and the one kid looking at you. The lines in the ceiling towards the front and the horizontal ones by the seats also add to the composition. The white windows are nice too, it's like the photo is totally isolated from the outside world.

Finely balanced composition, and good selective focus. You have caught the right moment of the child's glance. I also like the way the fellow on the left is looking over to his right. This bit also adds to the general ambience of indifference all around you except the little child.

Again you surpass yourself Sohrab. I can imagine such a picture in a photo contest it would immediatly soar among the winners.
I must decide another trip to India..

Hi Sohrab
Just came across this one of yours. What a cracker. I love the central composition here with all the lines of the bus converging on the little guys face.
Grat work.
