Photographer's Note
If you're wondering why i'm posting so many photos of India from Varanasi, its because I haven't gone through all of my photos yet from the trip. So far I've only reached Varanasi and Agra, many more cities to go.
But I will try to mix it up a bit more as time goes by.
So here we are at Varanasi again, the Ghats and the Ganges River. You can still see parts of the sky is a bit hazy, the sun trying to burn off the morning fog that lingers around here.
This lady sweeper on the bottom left really caught my attention, as did the colorful steps leading up to the colorful architecture. It was basically a photographers dream presented to me :)
I'll post another photo in the WS looking the opposite direction.
Hope you like it

Hello Craig,
Excellent point of view making good use of the steps to entice the viewer in and guide them towards the background buildings as well offering superb graphism. The people and the ever present cow are nicely spread across the frame, enlivening the scene. Top class technical quality as always.

Hello Craig, you chose the right shot for your post; this one has everything.
I like the depth you have achieved showing all the various flights of steps and the many styles of buildings.
The placing of the woman sweeping in the composition is perfect.
I particularly like the black cow,it looks a little like a cut out it is so dark!
Regards Jean.

Great upwards POV with no lense distortion, Craig, and with beautiful red/brown colors of the building and stais in the FG.
Black cow stand-out good focal, and distinct from men and women around the place. WS with the opposite POV is a nice complementary post.
Have a nice Sunday,
Ike

Hi Ceaig,
The shapes of the stairs are brilliant, what a cool way to put a strong lead into the picture. As I look up at all the buildings at the top, I notice that many of them look like faces. This is a new view of a ghat to me, the early morning setting in these busy places. It'd a way I never envisemged a place like this. Though I must say I only know of them at through this website. Very nice moment to shoot. Hope all is well!
Cheers

Hello Craig,
I really like the POV in this photo. The stairs have a great graphism to them, and they lead us up to the colorful, small buildings on top. The sweeping woman definitely serves to anchor and balance the scene, and the warm lighting is great, too.

Hi Craig,
It's a lovely daily life scene that takes place in this fabulous place. Amazing a cow up the stairs. Very pretty colors and very good the other point of view in the WS.

Ciao Craig
Saluti

Hi Craig. The steps are now clean and the rubbish I suppose floating upon or sinking into the waters of mother Ganga. Regardless of that unsavoury point, the POV is terrific and so is the light. The crowds are still to come and there is only a token human (and animal)presence in the image. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Craig
good framing, but the stairs at right direct my eye on the green Tshirt of the walking boy, balancing the sweeping lady, and contrasting with the overall red hues of the houses and stairs.
People presence is important in this shot, describing the every day life
Cheers

Hello Craig,
You have captured, not just a scene but, a whole lot of cultural differences. It is not apparent what, in west, we take as norm until you see the visual differences. We are unaccustomed to seeing animals roaming freely in the streets, streets are cleaned by mechanical devices and rubbish, for the most part, is deposited in bins.
Your photograph uses the colourful steps effectively, taking us quite naturally from the f/g to the overhanging buildings. The people add the story of life in India and scale.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Craig,
La grande qualité de cette superbe lentille c'est qu'on a l'impression de pouvoir regarder dans toutes les directions à la fois. Ici, il y a énormément de choses à regarder et en couleurs très affirmées.
Amicalement

Hello Craig.
Two fantastic images, both this and the WS, both show the purest environment in India and its buildings, a sensational POV capturing the staircase, which gives perspective to the buildings, whose strong colors, give power to the composition.
Very nice colorful tones very effective.
Good management of brightness and superb sharpness.
Superb image. My congratulations.
All the best and have a good start to the week.
Luis.

Hello Craig,
Looks like a larger version of Pashuputinath in Kathmandu. I passed, when the restaurant downstream offered fresh duck that could be seen swimming in the river adjacent! The red and blue colours contrast strongly here. The people and the cow animate the scene. Tfs.

Hi Craig,
this is an incredible mix of uploads: Norway versus India! I am so jealous! Amazing composition here, the stairs make an interesting geometrically foreground filled additionally with people. But the main point of interest are the buildings. They are so charming, so colorful! Everything set against the lovely sky!
Beautiful work!

Hola Craig
Very good POV with the steps leading the way to the EMPTY stairs, giving a graphic effect with the orange and white color, two cleaning women, a caw, as focal point, and so few people?
I prefer this one at the WS
Like the inclusion of the occidental dressed boy
Well done, regards
Maria

Hi Craig
Great use of wide-angle lens, composition, the radiating lines, the shadows, the floor textures and the colourful back drop. The people adds so much liveliness to the ghats, the perspective is excellent as too is the exposure. Great daily life shot that you've made it stand out on the gallery page! Congrats
Best wishes

Hi Craig!
So much life going on here, women, children, cows... this is India! Well framed, I like the colours and the graphism of the steps.
Seems you're working faster than me, I still haven't seen most part of mine:)!

Hello Craig,
a superb picture that describes the setting and the daily life in it, giving much information to the viewer and engaging them in a fascinating play of perspectives. I like very much the dynamic and solid way in which perspectives start from the lower right part and how different ones take over at certain points within the frame. The sweeper is enough to counterbalance all the rest. I also like the rich, characteristic colours, the mysterious and interesting people, the sweeper's shadow. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,
Ourania
