Murshidabad - III

In the third image of this series ,you can see a Big Ben Replica from the Hazarduari Fort Campus.This clock tower stands majestically in between the Hazarduari Palace and Nizamat Imambara.

Some tidbits about the clock Tower :

Clock Tower of Murshidabad (locally known just as Clock Tower or Ghari Ghar, also known as Big Ben of Murshidabad) is a clock tower in the Nizamat Fort Campus just opposite the south face of the Hazarduari Palace. The clock tower lies on the garden spaces between the Nizamat Imambara and the Hazarduari Palace, to its east, hardly a few feet away is the old Madina Mosque and the Bacchawali Tope.

The clock tower is surmounted by a heavy sounding bell. Four masonry shields are placed on the ground level four corners. The dial of the clock tower faces eastwards, towards the Bhagirathi River, most probably for the sailors and passengers travelling on boats. The tower was designed by Sagore Mistri, the native assistant of Colonel Duncan MacLeod, who was the architect of the Hazarduari Palace.

Dear Farhat,

Nice picture showing the full length of the Ghantaghar. The colours are quite simple and natural. I like the natual atmosphere here. We can see similar type of Ghantaghars in every town of India. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Farhat,
This is excellently captured clock tower from very well selected viewpoint. The view from lover angle makes the tower majestic and dominant. The light is perfect, the contrast against clean blue sky superb.

Bonjour Farhat,

Le temps très sombre donne de drôles de teintes à l'image. La tour en est presque jaunie . Mais elle est très belle dans son environnement naturel.

The Murshidabad Clock Tower is a fine architectural Clock Tower with ornate arch facades, evolving into an upper octagon section then the elaborate dome. An impressive rock structure and well designed.

Hi Farhat,
very interesting structure, I like the original design and rich decoration. I think something changed the color to very green. The sky is a bit greenish too. It does result in an interesting final effect of an old print.
