Salam Farhat. Helping parent is fine but not at the cost of one's education. However when a family has many mouths to feed, every little bit of help is valued. The figures are mind boggling- 120,000,000 children! The gov. is undertaking an admirable project. Precious little lives many under so much pressure of being born disadvantaged. A sad photo but I understand the imperatives behind Kids at Work. Best wishes. Klaudio.

A superb capture of this group of children who, unfortunately, have to work to help their parents maintain a living. I like the framing and the expressions on the kids' faces as well as the fine sense of animation. Excellent realisation of this well presented daily life composition.

Our children are all kings and queens, against these children, also yet so small to work.
Composition and subject, make these picture attractive.

Although the girl gives you a kind of smile this is a rather sad photo. I am fairly well informed of the circumstances surrounding child labour and should not condemn it right away, but it is terribly sad that these conditions still exist in such large parts of the world. You managed a good photo in spite of the very difficult light, and along with the note you have made a good contribution to the site.

Hello Farhat,
an excellent composition, especially if we consider that it was a quick and spontaneous capture while the children were walking towards you. I like very much your upward point of view which attracted the children's interest and derived intriguing, steady glances from them. There's superb dynamism in this daily life scene, wonderful clarity and fine colours, despite the strong lighting contrasts between foreground and background. This looks like hard daily life but the children seem to be content. I hope they get more opportunities in life while growing up but can't help thinking about the children who are facing much worse living conditions and war. Congratulations and thank you!

There was not child labor law while I was growing up in the Philippines, so we have to work to help support the family, not abuse it's a matter of survival. Nice documentation of the daily life of people with nice details. Well done, tfs.

A beautiful photo of this gorgeous children. They seem happy and healthy, and this could be due to the food program you speak of. I like how you have shot the photo at their eye level, not looking down at them. The colours and definition are beautiful, as is the way you handled shooting into the light.

Howdy Farhat,

Interesting candid of the children at work carrying baskets on their heads. The plight of children when exploited is disheartening. Too bad the Rich cannot share a little more of their wealth.

The scene reminds me of a summer when I sometimes helped my Grandfather make extra money on Saturdays by picking avocados in SoCal, I held up the basket while he picked and dropped the avocados into it while perched on a ladder. I didn't mind, because my Grandfather was very loving and protective.

As a teacher, myself, I recognise the value of education. I sincerely hope that these small children will be able to combine schooling with this need to help parents.
I like how you have got down low to photograph them. It gives the impression that the children are walking right out of the screen and there is a very direct contact between the figures and the photographer.
