Photographer's Note
he Peer Baba came from Astor (Pakistan) during 1933 and established himself in a cave at Durmat feature, North of Kanzalwan. He was about 35 years old. His religion was unknown. He never took any food or water for months. Only when he came down to Kanzalwan he used to ask for food saying
“Manu ta bhukha lagi nastha laow” in Parsi cum Urdu accent. He never refused mutton offered by local Muslims. He was hard of hearing, spoke very less and was popularly known as “Nanga Baba”. In Feb 1940, there was heavy snow fall and Baba came down from Durmat to Rajdhan and breathed his last. The locals who tried to bring the Baba’s dead body to Bandipur were attacked by large number of honeybees. Therefore the body was buried in present location by his devotee, Dilawar Malik.
