Mango, the King of fruit is a seasonal fruit which is harvested only in summer. In India its called as King of Fruits. It is having more than hundreds of varieties in India. Some of the varieties are Totapuri, Ginimooti, Rasapuri (meaning Filled with juice), Bagepalli, Neelam etc ..

Mangoes are consumed in 3 ways.

1. Unripe mangoes : Which is used for cooking some special dishes. It adds an very good sour taste to the food. You can see at the background of this pic. Unripe mangoes are also used for preparing mango pickles.

2. Half ripen: This is consumed directly, usually with some salt and spice. Very tasty. Tastes both sour and sweet. This is shown in the foreground of this picture.

3. Completely Ripen: This is very sweet and consumed directly without any additions. Used for preparing mango juice and also some special sweets called "Seekarane" in local language.
