Photographer's Note

Caves of Ellora are located to the 28km north-west to Aurangabad city of Maharashtra.The caves are created in basalt (volcanik rock)hills where the three great faiths - Buddhasim,Hindu Brahmanism and Jainism are seen side by side. The Buddhist caves are the earliest(500-700AD).The caves contain elaborate carvings of gods and goddesses including some paintings depict the lefe and culture of that periods. In all together 32 cave temples first 12 are Buddhist.Then 16 belongs toBrahmanism and rest are in the Jain group.The caves are badly damaged due to weather and vandalism now protected and renovated by ASI.
