Charminar meaning "Four Towers" or "Mosque of the four minarets") is one of the most important monuments in the city of Hyderabad, capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.
Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah built the monument in 1591 shortly after he had shifted his capital from Golkonda to what now is known as Hyderabad. Legend has it that the building honors a promise Quli Qutb Shah made to Allah. He supposedly had prayed for the end of a plague and vowed that he would build a masjid on that very place. The masjid became popularly known as Charminar because of its four (Farsi char = four) minarets (Minar (Arabic manara) = spire/tower), which possibly honor the first four caliphs of Islam. The actual masjid occupies the top floor of the four-story structure. (Madame Blavatsky asserted that each of the floors was meant for a separate branch of learning .) There is a legend that an underground tunnel connects the palace at Golconda to Charminar to give the Qutb Shahi royal family an escape route should they need it during a siege. However, the exact location of the tunnel is unknown.
The Charminar is a beautiful and impressive square monument. Each side measures 20 m, and each of the corners has a tall, pointed minaret. These four gracefully carved minarets soar to a height of 48.7 m above the ground, commanding the landscape for miles around. Each minaret has four stories, marked by a delicately carved ring around the minaret. Unlike the Taj Mahal, Charminar's four fluted minarets of Charminar are built into the main structure. Inside the minarets 149 winding steps guide the visitor to the top floor, the highest point one can reach, which provides a panoramic view of the city.

Hello Sreya! Thank you :-) 1/1.25 seconds cannot be a hand-held shot. You need a tripod for these conditions. Given that is not possible, you can try increasing the ISO and shutter speed to 1/15 or 1/20 which can still be completed with the hand safely. Also you can see both bright and dark areas in this picture. You need to use partial metering (default generally remains center weighted average). Partial metering is effective in these cases to get better exposure.

Good evening Sreya
Eventhough it is a bit blurry, the framing is really nice and the arch creates an inside windows wit all this beautiful light and colors in the bg. A vertical frame and a bit of sharpness would have certainly made it a lot better.
Have a good evening and TFS

Hi Sreya,
Your message on TN led me to your portfolio here on TE.
Unfortunately, I do not take part on TE anymore. I focus on TN only.
You wanted my views on your Charminar series you created along with some other young people from Hyderabad.
This particular image, as others too have pointed out, is blurred. Apparently, you did this shot in a hurry. My point is: why hurry? After all, this subject is not going anywhere. Moreover, take at least two to three shots of the same subject (choosing different camera settings if you have that option in your P&S camera) to make sure at least one of them is really good and does not make you feel unhappy before posting it on TE.
Out of the remaining shots of Charminar area, I like the close-ups of the minarets. The details of exquisite work done on them are well recorded. Mecca Masjid looks good in the shot where it is isolated from the drab urban surroundings. The hospital picture is the mundane view of an ordinary over-crowded street and the light suggests you took it at a bad time of the day -- mid day or early afternoon. Try next time to shoot the hospital either in the morning or evening when the light is slanted and mellow. Crop off the street scene at the final editing stage.
Hope you did not mind my being frank and candid.
