Benaras, Varanasi

Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh ghat, close to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, is one of the prime attractions of Varanasi.

Prior to the start of the elaborate Ganga Aarti , devotees, float wicks soaked in ghee (purified butter) or camphor offered to one or more deities, on the River Ganga (Ganges). Ganga is considered to be Goddess by Hindus.

Captured a few of these wicks (floated offerings to River Ganga) as they floated towards the boats illuminated by the artificial light on the Ghats...
