Photographer's Note
The Taj Mahal is one of the most photographed buildings in the world and that rightly so.
But there is an other side to the beauty of the Taj. On the opposite bank of the Yamuna river is a community of poor farmers, far less known to the hordes of tourists.
This picture was taken on the opposite bank right around sunset, as two pheasant girls where walking by

Hello Daniel
You're right: life goes on in the background of these "honey-pot" tourist destinations; your photograph has put that life in the foreground. The rusty barbed wire fence is also an element in de-glamourising of the iconic building. Well done for showing us the other side: literally and metaphorically!

Will

Hi Daniel
Excellent ideas showing us the true life behind the walls of this icon which i my opinion is more interesting. In fact I have few shots of same sights which i have not posted yet, I am more inclined to shoot human live here than the glamour within the wall. Well done, TFS
Best regards

Hello Daniel. An interesting photo. Everything is natural and unaffected. The Taj Mahal looks like disenchanted. If you like, the photo shows the back of this famous building. But the important counter-weight are the two women. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for a very informative picture. I have seen many hundreds of images from this impressive place, but never from this point of view to show the tomb as a neighbour, not a monument. Very nicely seen and composed.
Cheers

Hi Daniel
India, as is Japan, are two countries way up high on my to-visit list.
although the photo may not be 100% perfect in sharpness or clarity, its the story, the information, and overall interest that i like.
seeing this other side is what real life is all about.
there are 2 polar opposites at play here, and you show them well.
cheers

Always refreshing to see a different view on a popular subject such as this, it gives a new perspective. I like the inclusion of the women and field to help show the real world surrounding the monument. Very nice timing of this photo as well Daniel, the soft sunlight on their faces and the side of the Taj Mahal is a nice touch. Well done!
Cheers,
Jason
