Photographer's Note
The district of Lahaul-Spiti in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is one of the most spectacular valley with ancient monasteries and natural formations.
Situated in the rain shadow of the Himalayan Mountains, the Spiti valley with its pretty hamlets, patchwork fields, golden hues of barren landscapes and colorful monasteries perched on impossible climbs make Spiti an enchanting exploration. Spiti makes for an ideal destination for people with any preference, be it adventure, culture or just gaping with mouth wide open at the surreal landscapes.
Along its course the Spiti river traverses beds of clay and rocks, out of which rise peculiar rough monument like masses honeycombed all over with deep holes as if scooped out by a sculptor. Curious gravel formations can be seen in many places in Spiti, like these in the picture, the result of aerial degradation.
In the language of a Geologist, "Soft-sediment deformation structures were observed in in the lower Spiti valley. The deformation structures include over-steepened stratification, diapiric flame-like intrusions of clayey material or complex-type recumbent folding of flame-like nature, pseudonodules, large-scale soft-sediment folding, faulting (small scale) associated with folding and sand dykes. These structures are restricted to single stratigraphic layers separated by undeformed beds and can be correlated over a large distance. The deformation of the soft sediments is attributed to the combined effects of fluidization, liquefaction and shear stress, and can be related to past seismic activity in the area."
Henry Moore's website mentions about him: "modern sculpture artist specializing in abstractions and organic shapes" : I guess if Nature was a net savvy Human being, the website of Nature would have stated the same thing.

Incredible "architecture"! at first glance it looks like a dam built by man. I love this simple but impressive composition with three layers distinctly defined. You found the ideal light to enhance the textures both of the "dam" and the trees below.
Very fine and with a strong visual impact.
Have a nice day,

Hi Angshuman,
The distance between the valley and the mountain is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the natural formations. The early evening light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Angshuman.
Very pleasing array of layers in this fine landscape shot. I love the strong light and shadow in the corrugations of this formation. Your angle of view and the proportions of the composition make it a delight. Rich, deep colours and good contrast help to emphasise the depth in the picture. A very interesting note too.

Namaste, my friend Angshuman,
this peculiar natural sculpture formed by the action of the wind and of the erosion on the sedimentary gravel, creates an optical fantastic effect.
The diagonal perspective of this formation creates a nice band that divides the frame with a good graphics, in an attractive and elegant composition.
It is a work of art of the nature, perfectly caught in your photo.
Best wishes,
Josep

Hello Angshuman-san,
The frame full of wonders of the nature, without your note I would be totally lost as to what I am seeing. We human beings tend think ourselves as a great creators. But we are in fact great imitators of the nature. We learn form it and we create from what we learned. Whenever I am confronted by the wonders as we see in your photo. I simply feel the presence of where all of what we see in this world comes from. More we learn, closer we come to the nature’s way. This is not only true in the field of art, but in the field of modern science as well, it is a great image representing the source of all our inspirations, the nature. With my compliments, Angshuman-san
Very best regards,
Have a great and restful weekend,
Nobu.

Namaste Angshu
Magnificent land formation and fabulous view, its boundless natural beauty must be beyond words. I like the perspective in wonderful subtle colours while the repeated shapes sweep diagonally into the distant. Good exposure, lovely shadows, sharp with excellent detail and textures. Although we dont see the bigger scale those foreground and the backdrops are enough to give us the glimpse of this fabulous location. The late afternoon warm light has created such a wonderful effect. Well done and thks for sharing. Congrats

Hi Angshuman
This dam must be new what is no surprise as my last visit to Ladakh has been about 20 years ago. The architectural design is very interesting, it is more a sculpture then a dam. Attractive POV with vibrant colour hues and high sharpness. Well done.

The wind has an important influence to draw this artistic natural composition.
You used a very good moment for playing with shades.

Hi Angshu
I like very much the graphical compo, almost abstract, witha good play on colors and shapes. The contrast between the hues of the enlightened river banks and the purple mountains in the shadow is fantastic. The whole seems to be a very peaceful off-the-beaten tracks unknown paradise. :)
Congratulations
