Photographer's Note
Fairy Tale Lake Chandratal is located in the Lahaul-Spiti region of the Himalayas. Supposedly one of the five most beautiful lakes in the the Himalayas, Chandratal is at an altitude of almost 14500 feet(4500 mts). Its beauty is particularly enhanced on a full moon night. There is a beautiful trek from this region to Surajtal(or Sun Lake) near Baralacha Pass.In the photo, you can see a few trekkers on their way to the tents pitched on the banks of Chandratal.
To reach Chandratal, you have to cross Rohtang La coming from Manali and then proceed left towards Kunzum La. After passing through Chhatru n Chhota Dara, you reach Batal, which is around 150 Kms from Manali n 15 Kms from Chandratal. Although a couple of those 15 Kms is motorable, it is better to start trekking from Batal itself.

this is a really beautiful view of the lake, surrounded by mountains. why this is called 'fairy tale' lake?

Wonderfully crisp landscape with vibrant colours. Taken from a perfect position with good DoF and the mountains are awesome! I love the swirl from them on the right as they lead our eyes to the lake. Very well seen, captured and exposed. Well done. Regards, Vicky
