Photographer's Note

Monsoons are a much awaited, much loved season in India. After the infamous scorching heat of the plains the parched land and people, animals, birds, all spend endless hrs waiting for Mid june for the onset of "Ashar", the month of Rain acording to the Indian calender. Some parts of India remains under drought while others drown in flood....such is the diversity of this land.
In the capital city of Delhi every season is at extreme. Extreme heat and extreme cold... so our wait for the rains are rewarded by the rain gods.
As the clouds come with the band of thunder and lightening, people start coming out to picnic, to shop and to just soak and dance in rain.

This photo is taken over the river Yamuna, though you can't see it... but if you look closely you can see the Tomb of Humayun the scond Mughal King, and the Stadium lights far far away on the other side of the river. (See workshop posting for details)
