Photographer's Note

The ghats along the river Hooghly are used mainly for religious purposes, and for ritual bathing. As festivals come and go, a whole lot of organic debris accumulate, mainly leaves and flowers, along with the passing clay and affluents from the river. Once in a while the committee in charge of maintenance employs people to clean up the mess.

This shot has some crop over the original, because it had to be corrected of a tilted horizon.
