Photographer's Note

I cruelly lack of time to participate to TE these days...
I have to move from the place where I have been living for the last 15 years; I have to pack everything and it takes a lot more time than I thought.

About home, it seems that home, for this young woman, was in the street itself... She seemed to have nothing much but her pride.

A situation, that touches a lot of (and more and more) people all around the world... Not only the unemployed people or the dropouts, but ordinary people with small incomes that cannot afford to pay a rent and the too high security deposit required at the entry in a new place. Even in a developped country, like France, that kind of thing can happens. Even for someone who is working regularly full time, that can be a critical case. The proof that one has paid regularly the rent for the last 15 years is not enough...

For example, here, in my area; you have to prove that you get a salary ( after the taxes got deducted) that is three times higher than the rate of the rent. If you don't; you have to find someone who agrees to sign that he/she will be co-sureties for the rent. No matter how independant and grown -up you are, you have to be under the financial guard of someone else. Next: You have to pay a security deposit which is of the same amount than one month of rent ( that you will eventually get back when you will exit the appartment IF the owner, or the agency, finds nothing wrong during the inventory of fixtures, at the end of the tenancy ) and, often, you also have to pay agency fees, that can be higher than one month of rent.
Finally, a substancial sum that you may not have and you are supposed to get from... ???... The sky magic?...

Or you have to take a loan... !
For someone who hates loans; who has chosen to live without it; with no boundage, to save the maximum of freedom... take a loan just to move to a new rented home, is unthinkable.
Did the Neanderthals had to take loans, to move from one cave, to another? Is it that, the so-called "progress"?

Loans... Debts... Poverty... Infernal circle...
