Photographer's Note
Legendary Indian musician, Tansen, who is considered the greatest singer-musician ever born in India was born around 1505 AD near Gwalior. Though a Hindu by birth, Tansen was also a believer in Islam. He was a disciple of Sufi Saint Sheikh Muhammad Ghaus, and after his death the great musician was buried near his spiritual master’s mazaar. According to local folklore, the Sufi Saint also granted the boon of a son to Tansen’s parents, and is therefore venerated as Tansen’s janma daata (the giver of life). According to another version, Mohammad Ghaus was an Afghan prince. Whatever be the truth, the mazaar (tomb) of Mohammad Ghaus suggests that he was a man held in great esteem. Designed in the typical Mughal style, the tomb is a grand structure that arrests one’s attention. Built in the shape of a large square with hexagonal towers at its corners, the whole building is surmounted by a large dome, which was earlier covered with blue glazed tiles.
Built in late 16th century, the walls of the building have elaborate carved-stone latticework which covers all sides of the building. Its hexagonal pillars and screens using pierced stone technique are simply marvelous, with each panel having a different design. The opulence of this intricate lattice work left me awestruck as the bright sun streamed through these fine lattice windows. I concentrated here on just one such amazing windows!!

Hi Angshu,
Very delicate, we have to look twice what's going on here. The artwork on this is very beautiful but also very fragile and the way how you framed this (bit tight at the top) looks very nice and brings even some colours in front which come from the outside. Good eye in seeing this, looks very beautiful.

Henk

Hi Angshu,
Simply awesome! To dig out something extraordinary out of simplest of things, one should have a pair of eyes of an artist. And you have that! The result is such a composition. As if I am looking through the eyes of Miya Tansen, who is about to begin Raag Deepak to enlighten the place.
Thanks
