Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in the Wan Chai district of Hong Kong Island on a Saturday afternoon. It shows the back end of two trams as they passed each other.
The tram is front is one of the new trams which came into service in 2000. It features "a sturdy alloy aluminum metal body construction". The older tram is one of the 4th generation trams and has been in use since 1930.
To see what it is like to sit on the top deck on one of these new trams, click here.
I posted this photo because I wanted to show the difference in the two styles of tram and because I liked the artwork on the old tram. The girl reminded me of the singer Madonna.
Song title: "Who's That Girl" by Madonna (1987) from the album and movie of the same title.
Tech: Cropped, resized and sharpened. Brightness +6. Contrast +9.

C'est vrai cela ! Qui est cette fille ? ;-))
Les Temps modernes effacent doucement, mais sûrement les anciens trams, cela prouve que tout évolue, surtout en Chine !
Une bonne idée Andrew.
J'aime cette composition et l'idée de transmettre un message.
Very well done.
It is true it! Who is this girl?;-))
The modern Times erase slowly, but certainly the ancient streetcars, it proves that everything evolves, especially in China!
A good idea Andrew.
I like this composition and the idea to pass on a message.
Very well done.

This is well composed Andrew. I like how the tram on the right, with the "Madonna Like" woman, occupies a third of the frame, allowing a good balance to the image. Well seen and done.

Well you've taken many trams, and this is an expecially good one. Amusing observation, nicely cropped and timed.

Good tram shot from HK, Andrew. It works great with a variety of graphical and repetitive elements, as well as with the 2:1 ratio in which the trams overlap. Great colors and yes, there is a slight resemblance of the ad girl to Madonna.

Andrew
I like much your photograph. the compo is successful with the two trams which cross, people inside, outside (in reflexion), behind and this Girl. all is movement.
Congratulations

"Why is everybody traveling backward?" was my first reaction, Andrew. Then I remember the left hand traffic and understand that the green tram is heading left. Although this looks like being the front, I understand it can be driven in both directions. A nice composition with the overlapping trams almost filling the whole frame. The Madonna-like portrait is really an eye catcher. Well done!

A beautiful composition, a bit confusing, but I like it very much, Andrew. So many interesting details- the girl, her hair-do, the double decker trams, the square yellow signs, the pink bilboards, teh people. A very good compostion.

Nicely composed Andrew. Not an easy shot to capture these trams going to opposite directions but you frame them perfectly. The colors are great especially the ad with the girl.
Nice work and thanks for sharing!

Another great, energetic, urban shot. And very graphic like also. I like these two trams passing by. They are sort of saying hello to each other. And it's interesting that the new looks old and the old new. If I wasn't told I would think the simpler, less elegant looking one with the advertisement would be the new one. Nicely done.

Well suited then that this model in an 'old fashion dress up' was placed on the old tram. Nice shot, fine details, good HG 'daily life'
