Photographer's Note
This is Yufo Si or the Jade Buddha Temple. It was built nearly 100 years ago and the centrepiece is a 2m high white jade Buddha (which may not be photographed).
The temple attracts a lot of visitors both from China and overseas. Here some local people burn incense with the smoke being caught in the late afternoon sun.

Hello Jonathan,
I love how the light makes the smoke glow. The patterns of the "wall" of the incense burner stand out quite nicely because of the smoke. I've tried to take pictures of these lots of times but was never really happy.

Hi Jonathan, It looks that the smoke is about to come out of the computer screen. A very moody shot. The smoke does help us to the sunlight path. Nice composition, and nice DOF. Well done.

Very nice and intresting photo photo. I like the bluish steam. The quality is very good, and I like the way the light is falling on the persons to the right.

brilliant and sharp colours! a familiar scene to all Chinese...I've tried capturing such temple shots in Singapore before, but have to depend on post-editing to bring out the smoky effect...I think the natural lighting plays an important part in this...anyway, nice work!

Jonathan, I have to say that I'm impressed about the amount of places you've visited. I particulary wonder what brought you to Afghanistan :) This photo from China is very well presented daily life scene with beautiful light management. I hope to take similar once I'll be there. Well done. Lucie
