Photographer's Note

About a hundred kilometers north of the city of karamay, on the road leading to Burjin, is the "ghost town". It is an area of wind-rock formations carved in the wind and water produced by a special landscape. For thousands of years, the natur's artisan has hand-crafted the terrain configuration of this area. The wind blowing hard and the floodwater shaped the soft ground in the place. Because of this, scenes were filmed in films and series, among them the Oscar-winning "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" by Ang-Lee and "Hero" by Zhang Yimou.
