Photographer's Note
He is wearing his finest clothes to visit the Potilla, ex-home of Dalai Lama, exiled head of the Tibetian Buddhist church. The Potilla is sacred to all Tibetians. It is filled with incrediable, beautiful, ancient wonders of art and religion. It was the largest building in the world, in the 14th century. Huge several stories tall Buddhas, encrusted with gold, turquoise, coral and other jewels abound inside. The temperature is bitter cold, below freezing, yet Tibetians had traveled from far, far, away to pray inside. (Now any Tibetians entering must pay $25, same as a tourist, and can enter very few rooms, for a very short time. It was filled only with Chinese tourists went I went in 2006).
