Photographer's Note

This is Yuanyang, a remote village in a poor corner of the world. Without rendez-vous, hundreds of photographers gathered here in the early cold morning to watch the sun evaporating in the damp cloud. Talked to them, I learned that many of them flew in Kunming by their private charter jets then hired a 4-wheel SUV to arrive here just to witness Mother Nature mastering with colors without “photoshop”.

My companion and I were among the broken amateurs of the group. We went here by local bus, without tours booked, not a guide waiting for us at airport. Armed with a China Visa Entry stuck to the passport, off we departed the US.

While many of the crowd used the most advanced and professional equipment, we had only the cheap camera and started to learn the first steps in digital over this field trip. The result was a lot of mistakes and technical errors to be discovered during and after the trek. I am learning from your critiques, with the hope to be able to do the practice right where I made the failures.
