Photographer's Note

Jing Mai Shangi an agro-forest or traditional tea garden. Above the Mekong River in southwest China (Xishuangbanna), 3 hours drive from Jinghong. Motherland of the tea plant.
It's a delight to trek around these forests, 900 to 1500 meters altitude.
Figs, magnolia, bean, laurel, maple, oak and soapberry families of trees surrounded me amidst tea trees. Yes, tea trees, not shrubs, growing from two to nine metres tall. Ancient tea trees which its trunk diameter is a good indicator to know about its age. Mostly between 150 to 300 years old. Tea drinking started here in a very different way.
