Photographer's Note
This photo was taken during my one day trip to Beijing in October. I don't know what means these Cinese signs, but I see the creativity of this old invalid is very interesting for the people. They did read, took a photos and their faces were so serious.

Bonjour Serghei,
Tu as su te mettre au bon niveau pour donner de la profondeur à cette composition.Je n'y comprends rien mais c'est coloré. La jeune fille au sac et la dame au téléphone ajoute beaucoup.
Amicalement

Hello Serghei,
Neither do I understand what is written here, but I am quite sure it doesn't contain any criticism of the government or the high level corruption, torture, executions, prison camps, lack of public debate etc. Whatever is written it is colourful and eye-catching and more colours are added by the girl's shoes and pink rucksack and the woman's dress.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Serghei
That is beautiful script, and it's artistic style is offset in a very fun way by the pink bear backpack. This is a very interesting photo with a lot of points competing for notice behind the writing. Very nicely seen and timed

Hello Serghei,
It's a touching photo with the handicapped man writing out a message. (I am sure it is not a politically derogatory message.) I think the bottom of the narrative is in the foreground and he is writing upside down. I will ask a Chinese friend, a professor in the United States, see what the meaning is. One thing certain, it's beautiful art.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Serghei,
An excellent capture from your flying visit to Beijing. I like the framing and the perspective created by these curious markings, which no doubt mean much to the people gathered round the artist. Fine technical realisation.

Hello Serghei,
One day trip to Beijing suggests that you were rushing about trying to fit much into your visit.
Now this is something that you could not have predicted! I wonder what it means! It is so neat, so precise and makes a very attractive pattern to excite out imaginations. Speaking of imaginations, it would have made a very attention grabbing shot if you had cropped at the man's elbow, so that we just had his hand holding the chalk and those amazing, coloured trainers to link with the colours of the letters. Just a thought!
Still a most interesting photograph!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Serghei,
Great shot! I like how the colorful writing pulls us in and leads us to the writer. Sadly I don't know enough Kanji to recognize what he is writing about. The colorful child's backpack compliments the scene very nicely. Let's meet when you come back to NYC! :-)

Hello Serghei,
I can't read Chinese, either, and I can't even tell if the characters are upside down or not, but they look fabulous. The fellow chose his colors well and printed immaculately. I wonder if a fill-in flash would have helped avoid the washed out sky.
Regards,
MT

serghei
curious image, not usual. usually in the western world this kind of stuff is make with paintings, not with letters, anyway they consider calligraphy a piece of art. nice angle catching the beautiful ideograms and the public around.
