Photographer's Note

I know many of us would rather not think of the Buddha as such, but from this angle that's what it looks like.

At 71m tall, the Giant Buddha of Mt. Le (乐山大佛) is the tallest stone Buddha in the world. It was carved out of a cliffside overlooking the confluence of the Min and Dadu rivers at Leshan, Sichuan, between 713 and 803. It is a statue of the seated Maitreya, the future Buddha.
