Photographer's Note

After 10 months in Cambodia I finally made the journey from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. A 3 day visit to the Angkor complex is not long enough ... and too long. Well, at least that was what my back and legs said after carrying a backpack full of lenses and a tripod up and down temple stairs.

With all of the photographs of Angkor Wat, finding a new view or image is difficult. This is the southwest tower taken at dawn. I got there well before dawn, fighting my way through the hoards of other photographers and visitors. The signs were not auspicious as the stars in a cloudless sky foretold a boring set of photos. However, as the sky lightened, clouds started to drift in and just before the sun appeared above the temple I was able to get a series of shots that I liked.
