Photographer's Note

I stopped by the side of the road in Siam Reip to watch the men in a nearby pond who were fishing.

The pond was covered with green moss. The men would stand perfectly still until the moss had resettled and then they would cast their nets over the water to catch the small fish in the water.

I couldn't get near the lake because the man was on the other side, but using my zoom lens I got a close enough shot. I waited while he sat still, then he cast his net and I got my shot.

I like this photo because it is a shot that I think I was lucky to capture. The fishermen were relatively shy of the tourists and seemed reluctant to cast their net. I was far enough away that I didn't seem too obtrusive.

I caught the net just on the upside of the through.

PP. frame and some contrast added.
