Photographer's Note

There are a lot of images from this temple on TE, but I decided to upload mine anyway.
These stone faces are found on the Bayon temple which is at the centre of the ancient city of Angkor Thom. There were 54 towers in the temple but today only 37 are still standing, all have these faces on them, there are 216 faces in total. The temple was built by King Jayavarman VII and was constructed in the 12th century. It is said that the faces bear a striking resemblance to the king himself.
It is quite an overwhelming experience standing amongst these giant faces, and this was one of my favourite temples in the Angkor complex.
I could not decide if I liked the black and white or colour version better, please see the workshop for colour.
