This is an obviously powerful reminder of what happened. The tight crop really adds to the impact here. Although I have seen many similar shots, each one is still very powerful, and your composition is very well done. The coloring here is very well done too.

For AndyMcK: The 75 and 79 numbers refer to 1975 and 1979, the years the Khmer Rouge were in power. Also, you are right in that I think most estimates of the dead fall in between 2-3 million, there are still some as low as one million, although it seems most now fall at around the two million mark. Sorry to speak for Steeve, but I am pretty sure that is what he meant.

To Steeve: Where in Angkor was this taken? I know there are Killing Field memorials throughout Cambodia, I just didn't know there was one at Angkor as well.

Reminder of a terrible tragedy. I read with interest all which was written here. A very strong image.

A very complex photo subject. A pile of skulls by itself elicits only sadness. However, when you know that each skull here corresponds to another $50 of profit for the U.S. arms suppliers and Thai businessmen funneling money and weapons to the Khmer Rouge, the photo gains a far deeper meaning.
I have seen pictures of killing field museums where the skulls were arranged into a strict order. I believe photograping such an order would be a more visually appropriate representation of the victims, since we are looking at citizens who subjected their whole life to "law and order"

Kambodsha's Pol Pot got over such guys as Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and Mao in fight against own people :(
