Photographer's Note
Tara masjid also known as Star mosque, is a mosque located in Arminatola area, Dhaka. The monument has ornate designs and is decorated with motifs of stars. It was built in the first half of the 19th century by Mirza Ahmed Jan. The building exterior is decorated with Japanese and English china clay tiles and used both methods of the Chinitikri application. One approach uses solid colour, cut clay tiles and form patterns through the placement of these coloured tiles in white plaster. The domes and the exterior surface are covered with different coloured star shaped China clay tiles. The upper portion of the eastern facade also incorporates a crescent motif. Source : wiki

Hello Miguel,
I recognized this mosque before even reading your note. It was on one of the first photos I posted from Bangladesh already in 2008. I don't remember what the surroundings looked like 48 years ago, but I have a strong suspicion there was more empty space on the sides of the mosque then. It's nice to see it again and yo see it look well maintained. It's a good photo with fine light and sharpness.

Hola Miguel.
Una preciosa mezquita a la vez que muy original, pues es la primera que veo con esta decoracion de estrellas tanto en la fachada como en las cupulas, lastima los edificios modernos construidos tan cerca de la mezquita, con lo cual ahogan un poco su perspectiva.
Muy eficaz colorido, que destaca los detalles de la imagen.
Una buena gestion, tanto de la luminosidad, como de la nitidez.
Disfruta del fin de semana.

Hi Miguel,
charming mosque. Usually we have residential buildings low and a tower of a temple standing out and tall. Here we have the surprising opposite with the residential buildings quite high and the temple in the middle.
I like how it is painted in stars.

Hello Miguel,
A good photo of this mosque, situated between some taller buildings and trees. The light was attractive and made a nice contrast with the more shadowy parts. I like the repetition of the arches and domes.

This mosque is not tall and dominating the surroundings, as many are, but you have shown what a very attractive mosque it is! Its gold and white patterned exterior is beautifully understated.
