Khor Virap is one of the most popular destinations in Armenia for a number of reasons, primarily because it is where Grigor Luisavorich (St. Gregory the Illuminator) was imprisoned for 13 years before curing King Trdat III of a disease. This caused the conversion of the king and Armenia into the first officially Christian nation in the world in the year 301. To this day you can visit the underground chamber he was imprisoned, located in the nondescript St. Gevorg Chapel apart from the main church.

Hi Christina!
Very good scenery here! I like this plants in the foreground,that beutiful monument and then that huge mountain the background covered with snow. The clouds are also a nice detail. Good colours also!

Hello Christina: I like the huge mountain in the background of the old building. The image looked like it could use some contrast and saturation so I did a workshop which I hope you like.

Great and close view of Ararat, which I recently saw, when I visited Armenia. But your photo is better than mine, and also you have the beautiful church in the foreground.
