Photographer's Note
To follow my recent Goth on the Metro photograph, another in the same theme. I spent a good couple of hours in the metro station near Harajuku hoping for gothic lolitas - got none, but this lovely lady obligingly showed up in her orange kimono!
Shot handheld, ISO 400.

Great colors in this shot!
Artistic photography: well balanced - the green horizontal parallel with the yellow and the orange crossing!
The movement of the train creates impact!
The human element represents life!

une photo qui fait suite à "Goth on the Metro" et qui possède les mêmes qualités. Un joli contraste entre le personnage immobile et la vitesse du metro. On dirait deux mondes totalement opposés qui se rencontrent. Beau travail.

This is good Charlotte - just the right amount of blur in the passing train, and that splash of green makes a great contrast with the yellow in the rest of the image as well as balancing the composition with the girl on the other side of the frame.
A really well put together shot, I like it a lot.

Hi Charlotte,
Wow, I this shot really stands out! I love the movement that you have captured of the metro, and the lady standing so still in comparison...it is almost as though she is stopped in time while the world is still moving around her. Great crop and nice frame choice. The colours are fantastic and the sharpness is excellent.

You really know when to take the shot, your timing is perfect on this one, well chosen focal point where the subject is sharp from the bottom and slight blur on the head. the blend of colors are pleasing, as well as the composition. keep on shooting, with this shot, more green pills awaits you. A superb and very orginla shot. I like the contrast between teh attitude of the lady and the speed of the metro. Good balance in the composition with the differnets colours well located. An excellent photowork.

This makes an interesting pair with Goth on the Metro. While I like that one more thanks to contrasty PP and more personal preferences. But contrast between motion and static, and off centre framing are equally good on this one.

Hi Charlotte!
This is a fantastic photograph: through the simplistic composition and use of motion, the image conveys a powerful message about the old and the new. It's as if the old tradition is watching the modern world going by in a blur.
The warm colours add to your photograph as well. I'm particularly surprised at the sharpness, considering the 1/40 exposure time.
