Photographer's Note

Holy Mountain Grabarka is the most important place for orthodox Christians in Poland. The Holy Mount of Grabarka is also a centre of numerous Orthodox holidays and feasts, most importantly the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, which each August 19 draws about 100 000 believers from all over Europe.
Other than the Grabarka is also famous for its numerous wooden crosses customarily brought by believers, who through such action hope to win salvation and to restore health.
Prior to the celebrations the weary travellers can have a sip of the healing water from the nearby Miraculous Pond, which is said to contain the water from the holy stream springing from the centre of Grabarka Mountain.
