Un aperçu du Snaefelljökull (versant sud), célèbre glacier qui a donné son nom à la péninsule du Snaefellness. Haut de 1446, c'est en réalité un volcan (pas étonnant, en Islande !), appelé même stratovolcan à cause de cette calotte de glace.
Jules Verne en a fait le point d'entrée de son Voyage Au Centre de la Terre, et certains ésotériques y voient un des "chakras" de la planète, ou en tout cas une montagne sacrée.
A view of the Snaefelljökull, a famous stratovolcano covered by a glacier (1446 m high). The french writer Jules Verne made it the passage to the center of the Earth in his novel "A Journey to the center of the Earth". Some people believe it to be one of the sacred mountain on Earth, or one of the "chakras" of the universe.

Hi,
It loooks like a pudding with layers of chocolate an d ice-cream and with a dollop of cream ontop. A beautiful and stark landcsape, and I like the little grey cloud filling the space in your composition for the sky.
I recently read this story and enjoyed it very much.

The top of the mountain looks absolutely like meringue :) Don't know if this was the intention, but beautiful regardless. And well caught moment with the cloud passing by - its shadow helps realize the true immense size of the landscape.

J'aime beaucoup ce paysage typiquement islandais , les jeux d'ombres et de lumière , le contraste netre la blancheur immaculée du sommet et le nuage sombre . Superbe pureté de l'air aussi .

Hello - a stark and rather unforgiving landscape is presented most attractively. The three distinct bands of colour, the areas of sun and shade and the pristine snow against the sky combine to make a super shot. TFS and best regards Rosemary

Hello,
An incredible landscape very well captured. The light on the snowy glacier has highlighted the flowing shapes. The dark cloud fills the space in the sky very well. An interesting picture beautifully taken.
