Hi Marc,
Your Cambodia trip seems to have much more than complaints about your accident... You met an NG reporter, you even took photos with him and you had chat with him while photographing... This may make me little jealous :)
About light, yes it seems nice but I would like to see your future post before saying something about it.
About scene, it is really funny! Donkey coming to meet with the monks to pose NG and TE men :))) LoL

great use of the lighting here which shows of the oranges superbly. A interesting scene, not sure if the donkey is a hinderance in this shot but the story is a great read. The reflections are awesome, well done, must make a trip to Cambodia one day myself, sure looks like an interesting place.

Pas le genre de photo que je vois habituellement du monument, mais la scène fébrile que tu as vécu est très excitante et dépaysante.
Je vois que tu te levais tôt pour profiter de cette première lumière si éphémère et pourtant si belle, ici, elle enrichit la couleur des robes.
On lit bien l'action des moines, avec une ouverture au centre vers la cible de la caméra et l'âne qui attire l'attention d'un des modèles, et en arrière-plan, le monument qui situe l'action.
Une belle réalisation dans un beau voyage.

Bonjour Marc,

Its been awhile since I last visited you dude! Interesting title which makes a good point also featuring inserts of your fellow photographers. You know what the monk's version has good potential, like the composition with the inclusion of the donkey and the eye contact that plays within the frame. "This happens all the time here" with creative eyes on the panning on this ancient site. I like it ;)

Salut Marc, jolie cette scene ou tous les moineaux sont rassembless ;o) J'ai moi-meme passe pas mal de temps avec des jeunes moines a Phnom Penh recemment et ils ont tus leur "cell phone", "Walkman" etc. Jolie compo y compris le cheval, toujours la devant Angkor Wat...

It's a great and quite funny shot, much thanks to your interesting note. Well, perhaps this happens all the time over there but I can understand why there was an amazing moment. I would like to see something like that myself. Your capture of this situation is great, the timing is perfect with all the monks fitting well in the shot. The donkey and the photographer adds a lot of joy to the whole scene and with the mighty Ankor Wat in the background the image is complete. interesting from FG to BG.

Comment se porte le plus talentueux photographe de Quebec City?... Marcus, ta shot me fait baver... C'est du grand Manamoune!

Ton aventure cambodgienne avec les bonzes de NatGeo, ca n'arrive pas tous les jours... Ni cette scene, qui malgre mes 3 visites autour d'Angkor Wat, ne s'est jamais produite. Tu etais la au bon moment et tu as su en tirer partie. A tel point que les photogs du grand magazine n'ont fait que repliquer ce que tu avais deja lorgne...

J'ai bien hate de voir cet article pour savoir s'ils utiliseront cette shot. Ce serait trop marrant de voir le meme resultat, seulement que dans leur cas, ils etaient une equipe entiere pour assurer le resultat. J'aimerai bien voyager comme eux et avoir des moyens extraordinaires (l'equipement. la tente et le perimetre pour travailler en paix...), mais l'idee d'avoir 6 assistants ne me fait pas tripper... :-P) Et en plus, je n'arrive pas a croire qu'ils se deguisent en photographes pour faire leur job (le chapeau, la veste, le foulard et la barbe mal rasee... Phony baloney...LOL!). Avaient-ils un ecusson cousue dans le dos avec le rectangle jaune un coup partie... Low profile man, low profile...

Excellent boulot Marc, une de tes images les plus significatives. Don't believe them, it doesn't happen all the time! You were there at a key moment.

Great note and great photo Marc. The light is indeed very nice (although the sky is a bit on the washed side...) and the whole situation is priceless. So much to see, so much to explore. Could build an entire story based on just this single frame. Those oranges are really great. I love this one.

Hi Marc!
I almost missed this one! This is what I call a different way to show Angkor:)! The scene is funny and perfect, even the little horse is a good detail here. Light and colours are very good too.
