Photographer's Note
My trip to Rome was very short - I spent there only two days and one evening. But it was a wonderful time First of all I spent one day with our dear friends - Vinicio, Giorgio and Ninello. It was wonderful to meet them. They showed me their favourite places off the beaten track, we had some pizza and had a lot of fun. Thanks a lot my Roman guides! Quite unexpectedly, the weather was also fine. I am not satisfied with many of my shots, but there are some I like.
This is rather standard but beautiful view of Trajan's Forum. It was built by the architect Apollodorus of Damascus. The most interesting structure is Trajan's Column. Completed in AD 113, it is famous for its spiral bas relief, which artistically describes the epic wars between the Romans and Dacians. Its design has inspired numerous victory columns. behind the column we see the church of Santa Maria di Loreto.
After the Jubilee of 1500, the association of Bakers (Sodalizio dei Fornai) received permission from Pope Alexander VI to build a church at this site. Construction of this church began in 1507 by Antonio da Sangallo the younger, with an octagonal floor plan; the dome and the lantern were completed by Jacopo del Duca some 75 years later.

dopo la tua scorribanda a Roma e dopo aver visto le tue foto sull'altro sito mi aspettavo questa tua bella immagine di una baciata dal sole.
Hai scelto anche un bel soggetto da presentare con la colonna Traiana e le due chiese gemelle di N.S. di Loreto e del SS. Nome di Maria, con quest'ultima in bella evidenza, che sono tra i miei soggetti preferiti.
Una ottima realizzazione alla quale ormai siamo abituati conoscendo il tuo modo di fotografare.

Piekne zdjecie, Malgosiu! Swiatlo naprawde mialas wspaniale i wlasciwie to on stworzylo cala atmosfere. Oczywiscie architektura Rzymu jest niesamowita i sama w sobie stanowi doskonaly obiekt do fotografowania, ale te promienie popludniowego slonca ocieplily wszystkie kolory. Bardzo dobra perspektywa o kompozycja.

Hi Malgo. For anyone who visits Italy, it's the light that remains glowing in one's memory, long after the historical details fade away. I love in particular the late afternoon light and you have captured it beautifully. Regards. Klaudio.

This may be a standard view, and I have seen this view before, but you have captured with beautiful evening (or morning?) light. The oranges and yellows against the light blue sky are indeed beautiful. It is unfortunate that the wide angle lens produces non-vertical lines, but that can't be helped. Well seen.

such a wonderful magic light over Rome, so warm and golden. The church really glows beautifully in this light. Those ancient ruins in the foreground add a good interest to your composition. A pity though that the horizon is tilting to the right ever so slightly.

Also this entry is both with its photographic value and many good and usefull notes a perfect TE entry.
The late afternoon light creates an almost "divinal" effect. Both for the remains of the pagan periods in foreground and the rotunda at back.

I am going to be like a kid in a candy shop when I have the vacation time to travel around Europe. Rome is on my to do list. Wonderful warm lighting with nice repetition of the ancient fg columns that contrast well against the bg church domes. Tfs!

this interesting mixture of architectural styles of different epochs is a good topic for your composition.
The warm golden tones of the late afternoon bathe these churches, buildings and columns, increasing the beauty of the ensemble.

yes, this is a very popular are in Rome, one thats been photographed many times i think.
So when you met up with your Italian TE friends, did you meet them before or was this the first time? and did they speak english or did you speak Italian?

Seems you got really nice weather there. I like this pov and the soft light on the ruins. The ruins are a really nice foreground.
