Photographer's Note
this picture was taken from the side of slieve bearnagh, one of the mourne mountains of northern ireland.
slieve bearnagh, meaning 'mountain of the gap' in irish, is 2,385ft in height. the summit tor is on the right of this picture, while the mountain on the left hidden by the low cloud is slieve binnian. just visible between the two is the silent valley reservoir and beyond that the coast and the irish sea.

Hi Brian
This is magnificent. It certainly does look like Hobbit country. All that mist really adds to the feeling of isolation and distance. The details of the top of the mountain are superb, I cann account for every ridge and crevice in the mountain. What else can I say? A corker.
Have a lovely Sunday

Hello Brian,
What an interesting note and what a fine photograph with which to illustrate it!
Now, this sort of landscape photograph is right up my street. Gorgeous soft lighting, lovely faithful colours and exquistite detail and sharpness. The composition is excellent too, those steep shiny crags standing out proudly at top right threatened by the characterful sky at the left with clouds covering Slieve Binnian.
Majestic!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonsoir Brian,
C'est très beau tout ce mystère dans ce brouillard, la netteté du premier plan attire l'oeil pour nous balader dans ces montagnes embrumées.
Merci du partage.

Hi Brian,
wow this is a spectacular view, and although I am claiming that I have visited all Irish counties, I still did not hike the Mourne Mountains. I did drive around few times and I have to admit they look truly extraordinary but I never got up.
This view is amazing, of course it is a perfect combination of a rugged landscape with some unusual colors of the ground, fantastic light -so difficult yet creating incredible effects and the photogenic weather conditions. Again: at such weather I am usually staying at home which means I am obviously loosing opportunities for such photos.
The clouds are the highlight here.
The title is very appropriate due to the mystic atmosphere you achieved.
Excellent work!!

Hello Brian - Now here you have really managed to capture the atmosphere of the harsh and unforgiving landscape. We so often only see the 'pretty' side of mountain scenery, here we are faced with the elements. An image full of mystique and quite easy to understand why legend and superstition used to lie close to the heart of old communities. Top class work Brian, best regards Rosemary

Hello Brian,
some of the most spectacular scenery on view today, the barren rock strewn hillside in the FG covered by mist is magnificent.
The receding blue mountains add great atmosphere and depth,a really super piece of landscape photography.Congratulations on an excellent capture.
Best regards Les.

Hello Brian
Looks a little barren & desolate but the sharpness is flawless & the warm cold color contrast between the blue & yellow tints is eyecatching. Love the cloud at left enveloping the peak. Tfs!

Bonjour Brian,
très jolie atmosphère les nuages , on se trouve presque à l'intérieur. Jeux de lumières intéressants et surtout, de la profondeur.
Une gestion parfaite de lumières difficiles qui donnent une ambiance spéciale.

Hi Brian!
You've just confirmed my insights about breathtaking landscapes from the irish country. Most of the photos I see has this distinct character, a melancholic and mysterious feel albeit surprising grandiose landscapes abound and pop out from these aura. The colors are simply amazing, and the view is majestic not to mention the clouds that are seemingly within reach! Breathtaking capture!
Best regards,

Hello Brian,
Desolate, rugged and so very beautiful! I like the composition and colors you've captured. I imagine the deep valleys were carved by the ice sheets receding at the end of the last Ice Age.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Brian
I think middle earth title belongs to NZ, but man this could be such a NZ landscape, I hear Down is beautiful, fab low clouds and mist, the rocks all make fine focal points, and the moody colours finish the scene well.
Well presented
