Photographer's Note
Usually the Auckland CBD looking over from Devonport is mostly photographed in dusk conditions. Here is a version of it from dawn
where the sky city is drenched in the morning sun.

Hi Jim,
Ha, I was on the verge of posting a similar shot of the Sydney skyline, guess it'll have to wait for a while. That dawn light looks glorious. Superb light on the clouds as well.

hi Jim,
gorgeous light, looks like liquid gold pouring over the city, I like a lot the combination of such light with pink and gray clouds, feels fresh and sort of expensive :) crisp and clear shot, great work.
best,

Hi Jim
This is really an awesome light that you captured here.
The contrast is beautiful between the dark sea and clouds and the bright buildings.
Bravo
Chris
PS - the full size version must really be great...

HI Jim, you get brownie points just for getting up this early! But on top of that the hues and depth are extremely impressive. I would have found it difficult managing the shade in the FG with the extreme light in the BG, yet you do it effotlessly. And it's all STRAIGHT too! Jealous. Beautiful sky BTW. TFS and have a great weekend, Lisa.

Hi Jim
The timing is perfect, with the city enlightened, and the sea still in the shadow. The strong contrast is singular and attractive, the skyscrapers dazzle so intensively!. I also like how your composition divides the picture in three parts, very well balanced. And the two little boats are scattered at the right place and direct our look to the shore. Bravo!

goooooood mooooorning auckland! :-) get up and enjoy your city painted in wonderful colors. excellent view
of the great city, love the warm morning-sun-tones and the nice mix of modern high buildings. the boat in the
foreground are a great addition and the distribution of water, city and sky is perfectly divided into 1/3s.
well done & best wishes, thor.

Hi Jim
good light here on the skyline getting famous these days, it give maybe a too strong reddish taste to them, would prefer some contrasting colors maybe, but difficult to have

Hello Jim.
Good to see you back on TE!
This view has been photographed a lot, but not with the same startling result, no doubt benefiting from the morning light on the city towers. Your panoramic crop is most appropriate, and the sharpness is just right for the size of the image. The foreground boats add interest without distracting. I like the sky's being lighter than the sea, and the colour of those morning clouds. Nicely done.

Andrew

Hello Jim
The hue created by the early morning light on the CBD buildings is gorgeous. There was obviously use of a slow shutter speed as evidenced in the moving boat in the FG. Almost 3 layers here, all contribute to the beauty! Wonderful!!

Hi Jim
It seems to be just the right second, as the skyline glows in the light and the foreground water is still in the shade, image delivers a very fresh and dynamic impression
Have a nice day JY

All your photographs are extra ordinary. It's a joy to watch your photos. Beautiful golden light, sharp buildings, Off- focus foreground boats. Everything is brilliant.

Hi Jim,
This photo really shows the best side of Auckland. The city has certainly grown into a metropolis of regional signifficance, very much the larges city in the south Pacific island region. The skytower is well placed off centre as to give the image natural balance. I've always liked visiting Auckland, it seems to be a very livable and social place.
