Photographer's Note

Weather changes quickly at Bryce Canyon which makes it a wonderful place to photograph. The colour of the rocks is particularly amazing at sunrise, sunset and during storms.
Bryce Canyon is not really a canyon but a series of amphitheatres formed by erosion of the sedimentary rock. Bryce is approximaely 8,000 feet above sea level and has violent storms and extremes of temperature that cause water to expand and contract in the rock fissures causing it to crack. Mormon pioneers discovered the area and Ebenezer Bryce settled here in 1874 giving his name to it.
